- Hiring, firing and providing supervision of all activity in construction
This responsibility is one of the biggest for a project manager, as they are considered and viewed as the boss of the entire construction site. One of their most difficult duties includes firing employees while supervising a team of anywhere between ten to a hundred individuals, is also an incredible challenge. It is their job to pay attention to details that might have been missed by employees and ensure the operations of the construction project, runs smoothly.
- Planning
Project managers need to plan their work and plan out daily tasks for their team. The planning process includes estimating all the costs involved in the project, preparing the work layout for their team, developing schedules that will allow the project to be done on time, keeping track with the progress of the project and supervising tasks and make sure that everything is going according to plan.
- Set attainable goals
Setting proper goals is also one of the most important responsibilities, as construction projects are all tied to a deadline. Goals will determine the handling requirements, as well as the estimated date of the project to be done.
- Keep with a budget
Since construction projects are considered commercial endeavors, the project manager must keep money in mind while planning the project. It all comes down to estimating how much the budget should be, and work in accordance with it. The project manager must always ensure that the crew doesn’t go over the budget provided to them.
