COSTS SO LITTLE, DOES SO MUCH
Our roots run deep in lime and limestone. We’ve been mining and marketing lime since 1925 – initially as Piquetberg & Bredasdorp Lime Works. Generations of customers have benefitted from our high quality calcitic lime.
At first, the company focused on calcining limestone into lime for the building industry. In 1935 it started producing its renowned P&B Agricultural Lime. Production of Animal Feed Lime followed in 1995. Since 1998 the Company has been using modern, environmentally friendly technology to calcine the limestone, which is mined on the premises. It is an open-cast mine. There are sufficient deposits of calcium carbonate to ensure supplies for the next 300 years.
In 2001 new rotating horizontal kilns were constructed for the calcining of limestone with a hydration plant which entered production during June 2008.
